TOMMY ‘TOP-TIPS’ TINKLEHAUSSER’S WEEKLY TIP

Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser is the Coddle-Popper who seems to have ‘been there-done that’ more times than any other Coddle-Popper. At a ripe old age of 973, if there was a hard way of doing things, he’s tried it (Not too dis-similar to some of us humans), with the wrinkles on his brow to prove it.

Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser has compiled a compendium of cases where an easier way was found which he lovingly shares with us humans with his weekly tips in order to ease the emotional roller-coaster that we’re on.

Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser describes the 5-Second rule is a simple countdown technique where we count backward 5-4-3-2-1, and then spring into action on something we know that we need to get done. The reason behind this is because, when we feel an urge to act on a goal or task, we have exactly five seconds to get started before our brain begins its own agenda of poo-pooing the idea with excuses, overthinking, or fear. We shall come back and address this a little deeper in a moment.

In order to clarify any confusion, Coddle-Poppers also have a very different 5-Second rule that humans have unfortunately become rather more familiar with… It all started one ‘Harvest Festival’ (many moons ago), with a plate full of yummy fungal crunch bark clippings (a Coddle-Popper delicacy). Archibald Fennington-Choohardurr (renowned for his incessant habit of unusually slow eating), was often the catalyst for the impossible-to-contain frustration of the faster eating Coddle-Poppers. He would still have a tantalizing heaped plateful of mouth-watering fungal crunch bark clippings long after everyone else had not only finished, but long since licked their plates spotlessly clean in sheer desperation of the glorious smelling, ’look but don’t touch’ plate of Archibald Fennington-Choohardurr. If you think that a dog drools bad, just witness a table of fungal crunch bark clipping obsessed Coddle-Poppers with just the vainest of hopes that he might leave (or drop) some.

Coddle-Popper etiquette dictates that nobody can take from another’s plate without it being offered. That being said, should it just so happen for anything to fall off the plate and onto the floor… well, that’s fair game. But the unwritten rule is, that the original owner gets a 5 second head start in order to reclaim the said morsel.

Of course, Archibald Fennington-Choohardurr refuses to be distracted from his ‘culinary-moment,’ and maintains his concentration of savouring every single tantalizing mouthful. Being bothered to retrieve any wayward delicacy would be such an inconvenient distraction. He neither loses a chew, nor breaks rhythm, even when all hell breaks loose with the frenzy that occurs at the moment of the sixth second, with ten rambunctious Coddle-Poppers having a ruck (after the mandatory initial 5 seconds). Such is his savoured palate moment… but that’s another story for another day.

Getting back to the subject in hand, Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser highlights that our brain is wired to protect us from anything unfamiliar or uncomfortable. When we hesitate (even for a moment), our mind begins to flood itself with reasons/excuses NOT to act.

The 5-4-3-2-1 countdown interrupts this pattern by activating our prefrontal cortex (the part of our brain responsible for decision-making and intentional action), while bypassing the emotional brain (that triggers hesitation). It’s like piling on the brakes to our overthinking before it can get the opportunity to stop us. We apply it like this:

  • We pay attention to when there’s an impulse to do something productive (exercise, make a phone call, start that project).
  • When we feel it, we count backward (out loud or in our head): 5-4-3-2-1.
  • As soon as we hit 1, we make a start. Stand up, pick up the phone, open our laptop (whatever it is that begins the action).
  • We make sure NOT to give ourself time to change our mind. The physical movement is the secret sauce (it signals to our brain that we’re committed).

Coddle-Poppers use this first thing in the morning when the alarm goes off (we count down, then get up immediately)… Before the difficult conversation that we’ve been avoiding… When we need to disrupt worry spirals or negative self-talk… Any time that we catch ourself saying ‘I’ll do it later’ or ‘I don’t feel like it.’ It works especially well for simple things that we know we SHOULD do, but keep putting off.

Top tip: Start small with less important situations (to build confidence with the technique). Use it to put the phone down when scrolling, to drink water when thirsty, or to take a deep breath when stressed. Once trusting how well this works, start using it for the bigger challenges.

Emotional processes play a role in decision-making. This 5-Second Rule works because it doesn’t try to change how we feel; it works because it doesn’t give the feelings time to take over. According to Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser, disrupting automated thought patterns with a simple, deliberate action like counting, shifts our brain from ‘hesitation-mode’ into ‘action-mode’ (making it easier to overcome the inertia that keeps us stuck).

Final Thought

According to Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser, the great thing about the adaption of the Coddle-Poppers, is that it shifts us out of defending our limitations, and into exploring our possibilities (where the REAL change happens)!

We are each a ‘Spirit’ (part of Source/Creator/God, insert your own Divinity here) having a ‘Human’ experience. Our life on Earth is an encyclopedia of experiences laid out FOR us (by prior agreement), in order for us to LEARN and GROW. Through ‘Natural Law’, no Coddle-Popper, Spirit Guide, Faery, nor Angel are allowed to intervene on our behalf unless specifically asked or invited by us, for fear of karmic intervention.

(To work around this, Tommy ‘Top-Tips’ Tinklehausser is able to ‘suggest’ ideas through the power of meditation (as if it were our own thinking), so allow the suggestions to digest and percolate. It is intended as to tool to enhance our discernment skills. You’re welcome).

IMPORTANT: Our mind is a magnet. When we think of blessings, we attract blessings. Likewise, when we think of problems we attract problems too. So we need to do our best to make sure to always have good thoughts and be positive.
